About Denia
Denia is a town in Alicante province with a population of 29000, 92 km north of Alicante and 99 km south of Valencia. Madrid is approximately 450 km north. Denia is a cosmopolitan town with a rich history dating back to medieval times that has successfully blended tourism with the residential areas of the town. The town of Denia is dominated by a castle built during the 11th and 12th centuries and is of Islamic design and is now used for the backdrop of a number of wide ranging events. The town boasts a comprehensive range of services and amenities making it ideal for both holidays and longer term residence. It is a vibrant colourful town, steeped in local tradition where you can enjoy traditional Spanish culture, which is very evident at fiesta time, when the town springs into life. Denia celebrates more fiestas per year than any other town in Spain.
Denia is famous for its wide golden beaches that borders almost twenty km of the coastline. To the North of Denia there are beaches with fine sand and shallow water and to the south of the town lies a series of small coves along the rocky coast, known as Las Rotas, which provides a haven for fisherman and divers. Also to the south of the town the imposing Montgo mountain, designated as National trust, which sits between Denia and Javea and is a major landmark of the area.
